PRESIDENT OF VELOCITY POWERBOATS
SCOTT MCCORMICK
Scott McCormick is one of offshore racing’s most respected throttlemen and a driving force behind the Velocity program. A DeBary, Florida native, McCormick is the owner of Velocity Powerboats and Checkmate Boats, combining industry leadership with decades of competitive experience. Racing professionally since 1999, he has built a reputation for technical mastery, mechanical insight, and strategic throttle control in demanding offshore conditions.
McCormick is a five-time APBA/UIM World Record holder and has secured three National APBA Championships, two APBA/UIM World Championships, and a Triple Crown Championship. A Top Gun Award winner and five-time Lake of the Ozarks Shootout speed record holder, he is known for delivering clean, consistent power management at extreme speeds. His experience and composure on the throttles are instrumental in turning raw horsepower into race-winning performance.
DRIVER
BOB SPITULSKI
Bob Spitulski brings elite athletic pedigree and championship focus to the cockpit. A Sanford, Florida native and University of Central Florida graduate, Spitulski earned AP All-American honors as a linebacker in 1991 and was later inducted into the UCF Hall of Fame. Selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, he went on to build a five-year professional football career defined by discipline and competitive drive.
Now in his 12th season of professional powerboat racing, Spitulski has translated that same intensity to offshore competition. His résumé includes three National APBA Championships, two APBA/UIM World Championships, and a coveted Triple Crown Championship. A proven high-speed performer, he has set three world speed records and captured five speed records at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.
Behind the wheel, Spitulski is known for precision, composure in heavy water, and the ability to execute under pressure.
